Bear with me because I was excited to share my experience yesterday. I don't know if anyone on this list serve had the opportunity to attend the Central Exchange's Annual Lyceum yesterday, but I came away excited after listening to Daniel H. Pink speak. Not only is he a dynamic speaker, but he provides a different way of approaching leadership and motivating professionals.
I had a couple "Aha" moments during his presentation, but I think the biggest for me were his three big things that motivate professionals in the workplace:
- Autonomy
- Mastery
- Purpose
This is a great concept and I believe it does hold true for me in my own career. I would really recommend his book, A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers will Rule the Future, which I have found extremely useful for myself. He also has a new book titled Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us. The presentation yesterday was based on this book and I am curious if anyone as had the chance to read it. Post any comments that you have about Dan Pink or any of his books.
