Published 20 April 2009; released 19 May 2009. In Appendix IV, this report identifies the legal authority and governing structure of 31 designated federal entities (DFEs) such as the Smithsonian Institution, Peace Corps, and National Science Foundation. The entire report provides useful details on DFEs.
National Intelligence, A Consumer's Guide [PDF], from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. 28 May 2009. This report profiles the numerous U.S. government intelligence organizations. The report also describes executive and congressional oversight and includes useful guides to the acronyms and lingo of the intelligence community.
