The Politico article CQ-Roll Call's new editorial structure (24 September 2009) features a management letter on staffing changes at the newly conjoined venture. One paragraph highlighting consumer product plans may be of interest to DGI readers:
We are recasting CQ’s Consumer Publishing unit to focus on two important free Web sites: Congress.org and CQPolitics.com... [A] team will spend the next few months rolling out new functionality for our redesigned Congress.org site, which will allow citizens to become informed about issues they care about, connect with each other and engage in citizen lobbying. They’ll also be busy merging the best of Roll Call and CQ political coverage, with a goal of launching a new politics Web site early in 2010.
The letter makes no mention of changes to traditional CQ products such as CQ Weekly and Politics in America.
What I would love to see is fully referenced, footnoted legislation, at every step along the legislative process.
In close-to real-time.
All changes made from draft version to subsequent incarnations should be highlighted and explained.
The explanations should contain information on who made the changes and why. And any claims made in justifying the changes should be backed up with real data, info, research, as needed.
All wrapped up in a state-of-the-art user-friendly package.
Thanks!
