Australia's national Government 2.0 Taskforce has released a draft report, Engage: Getting on with Government 2.0 in PDF and HTML formats. From the report's introduction, What's in a name:
Easy to find re-useable public information is, at heart, an invitation to the wider community to engage innovate and create new public value with public sector information (PSI), which often sits underused or simply ignored in government agencies and data banks...The government’s job is to liberate much more of its information as a key national asset...Public agencies and professional public servants are also invited to engage more energetically with the tools and capabilities of ‘collaborative web’ or Web 2.0.
Recommendations of interest include:
- Make Public Sector Information open, accessible and re-usable.
- Addressing issues in the operation of copyright.
- Privacy and Confidentiality.
- Information Publication Scheme.
The 7 December 2009 blog announcement states that comments are welcome before close of business 16 December 2009.
