The U.S. Census Bureau's congressional budget submission for FY2012 includes several program terminations--cancellation of the Statistical Abstract of the United States for example--not welcomed by librarians and other researchers.
On the SLA Public Policy Connections blog, SLA executive Doug Newcomb writes: "Especially after supporting a campaign as part of Sunshine Week 2011 - "The Road Forward to Open Government" - it came as a disappointment to many members of the SLA community that these cuts would move us away from an accessible government."
