I think you're being a little too glib in dismissing privacy concerns. Wired ran an article not too long ago that discusses how much of Facebook is not as private as you might think or hope:

Otherwise, though, I think you've got it right and Facebook is definitely worth exploring.

Alex, thanks. The article is VERY much worth reading since it tells the reader what to do to make Facebook profiles more private than the default setting. It is up to the individual to maintain his/her privacy, as it is in other systems.
