SLA just sent a press release about the Denver conference. 5,047 individuals attended, and for the first time, every chapter around the world was represented. 813 attendees were first-time SLA conference participants. The INFO-EXPO was sold out and featured 275 companies and organizations and all 445 booths were filled. There were 38 new exhibitors. Kudos to HQ and to the Conference organizers, including IT's own Ty Webb.
The SLA Leadership Summit will be held in Reno, NV, January 24-27, 2007. I've attended this meeting for several years now and have found it to be an invigorating and energizing experience. The speakers are usually top-notch, the leadership activities really get you thinking, and the networking can't be beat. This is a small meeting, so it's easy to chat with anyone, including the SLA Board of Directors.
Did you notice? SLA changed their website, just as the conference got started. I like the new look, which is spiffier. And CEO Janice Lachance started her own blog, INFO X.
It seems though that it's not such a good change for the unit webmasters. URLs were changed as well as FTP directories. With no advance notice. Ouch!
