No Exciting Library Depression News

I was hoping for something interesting about the depression of librarians in this article:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071014/ts_nm/depression_usa_dc_2?

There's not too much there, though.  First of all, librarians are lumped in with trainers and educators so they're not really examined as a single group.  Secondly, that group is just slightly more depressed than the average with five groups more depressed and eight less depressed.

All in all, we're just middle of the road.  Nothing to see here.  Move along, move along.

Another Reason to Start Blogging

Superstars distinguish themselves from everyone else by being known for their ideas. This doesn't mean they sit in a room and think all day. Execution matters. But you need both. That's why a blog is so great for putting you at the top of your field.

Do you have superstar aspirations?  Come on, admit it.  Even if your aspiration is to be a library rock star, one of the best ways to do it is to start blogging.  The quote above is from a post from Penelope Trunk's Brazen Careerist.  While I often don't agree with her, I think she has some excellent ideas for promoting yourself and your ideas, and her blog is worth adding to your aggregator.  One of her guest bloggers provides an interesting twentysomething perspective--here's why he started blogging.
