The Kentucky Chapter Nominating Committee offers the following slate:
For President-Elect (three year commitment): James Manasco
Biography: James Manasco has been a member of SLA since 1994, where he is a member of the Kentucky Chapter and the Science-Technology, Information Technology and Academic Divisions. He has served in a variety of leadership roles, including Chair of the Science-Technology and Information Technology Divisions, President of the Kentucky Chapter and Chair of the 2010 Annual Conference Advisory Council, responsible for SLA’s Annual Conference which was held in June 2010 in New Orleans, LA. James is also the co-presenter of the very popular Sci-Eng 101 series of programs that have been at SLA Annual each year since 2004. James was awarded the Kentucky Chapter’s Professional Award in 2004 and its’ Outstanding Member Award in 2007. After serving in a variety of positions at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky since July 2003, James is currently Head of Collection Development. Prior to arriving at UofL, James was Head of the Robert E. Shaver Library of Engineering of the University of Kentucky (1999-2003) and Natural Sciences Liaison Librarian at Colorado College’s Tutt Library in Colorado Springs, Colorado (1996-1999). James received his MSLS in 1996 and his BA in 1994, both from the University of Kentucky. James is the husband of Melanie L. Manasco and is the son of Bobby and Alice Manasco of Beaver Dam, Kentucky.
For Secretary (two-year term): Angel Clemons
Biography: Angel Clemons is the Government Publications Librarian at the University of Louisville's Ekstrom Library. She is primarily responsible for cataloging new government documents and overseeing the retrospective conversion of documents in all formats. Ms. Clemons has served as Program Director for the Kentucky Chapter since 2009. She has also served as Chair of the SLA IT Division's Technical Services Section from 2008-2010 and currently serves as Archivist for the Division.
For Director-at-Large (two-year term): Virginia Mattingly
Biography: Virginia Mattingly has been employed as a Cybrarian at the University of Louisville's Brandeis School of Law since 2006. Her responsibilities include legal research & reference, communications, content management, social networking and tech support. She's been active in the Special Libraries Association since having received her MLIS from the University of Hawaii 10 years ago. She currently serves as the webmaven for the Kentucky Chapter and Legal Division.
Other nominations must be submitted within 30 days of the first email announcement (by 5 p.m. EDT on December 2, 2011) to the Chair of the Nominating Committee. The election will be held 45 days from the announcement of the slate (voting would begin on Saturday, December 17, 2011), by electronic ballot. Details will be announced closer to time.
