Agnes Mattis and Cindy Romaine, SLA Candidates for President-Elect in 2010, started their East Coast campaign tour in Washington, DC on Monday, July 27. The DC Chapter held a nice reception for them at the Elephant & Castle Pub and Restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue. As Maryland Chapter President-Elect, I attended the event to show my support for the candidates and the SLA governance process. Shown here is my "photo op" with candidate Cindy Romaine. A few other other Maryland Chapter members also mingled at the event, including Wilda Newman, featured recently in The Cutting Edge's Member Spotlight.

and Cindy gave brief campaign speeches and fielded questions from reception attendees, including current SLA President Gloria Zamora, current President-Elect Anne Caputo (a Maryland Chapter member!), and SLA CEO Janice Lachance. Typically, only about 25% of the Association membership votes in SLA elections, but I hope you will read up on the candidates' positions and cast your ballot for a healthy future of the SLA when the electronic polls open on September 9!
