The Maryland SLA Chapter is proud to host an energizing presentation by SLA President Gloria Zamora on Thursday, Oct. 22, followed by tours of the National Electronics Museum featuring cool electronic gizmos.
Gloria’s presentation kicks off our evening with a dynamic discussion about the strategies, tools, and clear compelling language that SLA has developed from its Alignment Project. Listen to Gloria describe the process and outcomes which we all can use to give ourselves a competitive advantage at work and spark a stronger recognition for our profession.
Gloria’s message speaks to all librarians and information professionals across sectors of business, government, law, medicine, academia, or wherever we strategically use information to advance the missions of our organizations.
Our venue is the National Electronics Museum. Following Gloria’s presentation, guided tours of the museum will be offered. Learn how electronics work, and browse electronic devices from telegraphs and a working ham radio station to radars, satellites, and more!

About the Speaker:
Gloria Zamora is the
President 2009 of SLA. She has more than 30 years experience in the information
industry. As a Government Affairs manager at Sandia National Laboratories
in New Mexico, Gloria tracks and analyzes federal legislation. She also
is the liaison between members of Congress and their staff and the management
and technical staff at the laboratory. She represents the issues of the
laboratory to Congress. This position fits well with her history/political
science background and interest in politics. Her information science
background provides the necessary tools to aid in searching and interpreting
legislation.
