Widener University, an independent, metropolitan doctoral-intensive teaching institution, invites nominations and applications for the position of Reference Librarian.
The reference librarian will be primarily responsible for providing professional research assistance and reference services to students, faculty, staff and community patrons. The librarian will also be responsible for developing and implementing appropriate service and resources for the Information Literacy Program. As part of the Information Literacy Program, this position teaches advanced literature research methods to graduate students and conducts faculty workshops in assigned areas.
The qualified candidate will possess a Master's degree from an American Library Association ( ALA) program for the library and / or informational services with one to three years experience required. The preferred candidate will have a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with students, support and professional staff, faculty and external constituents; superior interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent public speaking skills. This position's work schedule is part time ( 20 hours per week) and includes rotational weekend shifts.
