Recognized as a clinical and academic hub of the System, Long Island Jewish Medical Center has a long and prestigious history of providing its community with the most innovative and effective care available. The Medical Center is comprised of three divisions set on a 48-acre campus at the borderline of Queens and Nassau counties, including a 452-bed main hospital.
The Health Sciences Librarian provides reference services utilizing electronic, Internet, and print resources. Provides instruction in the use of library resources. Assists in planning and evaluating services. Develops collection of books. journals, audiovisuals, databases, and computer software. May train support staff and volunteers. Assists with recourse sharing activities.
Qualifications
Masters Degree in Library Science required
Minimum one (1) year library resources in a hospital/medical school setting related work experience required
Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, database and internet search skills.
Membership in the Medical Library Association's Academy of Health Information Professionals (MLA Certification) strongly preferred.
