Job description Ensure that all scientists, engineers, business unit and support function staff have ready access to the information, both external and internally generated, needed for optimal business decision-making. Collect and analyze complex technical, patent, and business literature, and facilitate desktop access to self-service tools for simple searching as well as journal article and patent downloads. Track and monitor industry trends to provide critical business intelligence. Maintain awareness of current corporate knowledge management changes, developments in information resource technology, and intellectual property management. Manage centralized electronic subscriptions; build and oversee critical databases (e.g., Health, Environment & Safety Toxicology database); organize and provide electronic access to Arkema’s collection of internal technical documentation and research notebooks; and proactively guide research, business, and administrative groups to optimally manage information and create knowledge. Promote and advance Information Resources services, including through developing and conducting user training programs. Build and maintain strong relationships with global information colleagues, and establish professional networks with external peers.
Profile · Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering or related discipline.
· M.S. in Library or Information Science, or equivalent experience.
· 5-10 years of experience in a corporate environment, preferably in the chemical industry.
· Expert knowledge and proficiency with technical and business related resources and databases such as Dialog, SciFinder, PIERS, Knovel, Frost & Sullivan, PatBase, etc.
· Effective in a fast-paced, electronic environment, with outstanding technical capabilities, and creative approach towards information delivery to address business and technology needs.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to interact at all levels within the organization.
· Strong interpersonal skills and customer service focus, with a track record of collaboration and teamwork.
· Self-starting ability with exceptional time, organizational, problem-solving and project management skills.
· Demonstrated multi-tasking capabilities.
