Position Summary: This position provides support to the Librarian for Latin American, Iberian and Latino Studies. The incumbent is responsible for all operations of the Latin American Ephemera Collection, including managing a complex acquisitions and processing workflow, provision of patron access to the collection and specialized assistance in using it. Tasks include categorizing materials and developing thematic/subject collections, collating and organizing materials for microfilming, creating detailed EAD finding aids for each collection, maintaining records, coordinating the work of student assistants, and assisting library patrons in the use of the collections for research
Essential Qualifications: Position Requires: Ability to read and analyze materials printed in Spanish and Portuguese (with a thorough knowledge of the grammar, spelling, punctuation and accentuation of the languages). Requires at least a BA degree, preferably in Latin American Studies, or equivalent experience working with Latin American library collections. Familiarity with and broad, current knowledge of Latin American politics, society and culture is required, to properly organize, classify and describe collections and to assist Latin American Studies students and faculty. An overall familiarity with cataloging and public service functions. Familiarity with library searching tools. This is a one year term position, with the possibility of extension. Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - noon
