The NYU Health Sciences Libraries invite applicants for the position of Web Manager. The Web Manager will provide services to faculty, students and staff of the NYU School of Medicine and Langone Medical Center (NYULMC), College of Dentistry and Nursing, Bellevue Hospital, and the Hospital for Joint Diseases as well as the library's three consumer health branches. NYULMC is located in mid-Manhattan and is affiliated with Bellevue Hospital and the Manhattan VA Hospital.
The Web Manager will lead the maintenance, improvement, and theming of the libraries' Web sites and will support development of unique Web-based tools and resources tailored to meet the teaching, learning, and research needs of the libraries' users and staff. The Web Manager will focus on front-end design and content, working with a programmer and the Web Services Librarian, as well as other staff throughout the library.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain and improve library Web sites and tools using Drupal
* Work on new site designs as needed and create Drupal themes
* Serve as one of two content editors/approvers for the sites
* Evaluate and promote the usability and efficiency of Web-based services and resources with user study, log analysis, and other tools
* Provide training and support to Web site users among the library staff
* Work closely and collaboratively with the Web Services Librarian and library staff in developing creative Web-based tools and resources
* Develop an understanding of library online systems to ensure close integration
* Facilitate communication and coordination among team members, branch libraries, content developers, and instruction/outreach services
* Participate on teams and institution -wide committees as needed, including the Medical Center web group and the NYU Libraries Drupal group

Experience
The ideal candidate will possess: 2-3 years' experience building and maintaining high-quality Web sites with a focus on front-end design, maintenance, and user support. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Desired: proofreading/copyediting experience, graphic design experience, library experience, PHP, MySQL
Skills: Demonstrable skill: XHTML/XML, CSS, Drupal
Education Required: MLS or equivalent not required
