The ideal candidate will be a librarian with a strong understanding of technology. You will help shape the physical and philosophical transition of our library into the 21st century. Responsibilities: -Oversee the Lower School Library System (Grades PK - 6) -Facilitate the redesign of our physical library spaces around increased use of technology and modern library principals. -Manage and train the library staff. -Teach Lower School classes and develop curricula around the topics of research, media literacy, Internet safety, writing, and traditional library skills while integrating technology appropriately. -Work with other teachers to integrate these topics into the larger curriculum of the school. -Manage a computer lab space consisting of desktops as well as portable devices such as Kindles, laptops and iPads available for loan. (The troubleshooting and maintenance will be the reasonability of our Technology Department.) Requirements: -A vision for how to operate a library, develop curricula, and design information spaces for the 21st Century in a manner appropriate for young learners. -A specialization, enthusiasm and real understanding of current computer and Internet technologies. Comfort with Macintosh computers is a plus. -Experience teaching or working with Lower School aged children is a plus.
