• Librarian skills.
• 5 years experience.
• Proficient Computer skills.
Knowledge, Education and Skills Preferred:
• Oncology experience preferred.
• Membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals.
Job Summary:
The Consumer Health Librarian is responsible for the development and maintenance of the John Theurer Cancer Center Resource Center. This is a new program and the development will include, but is not limited to developing patient resource lists, JTCC library and internet policies, implementation of patient resource appointments and coordinating resources with clinical staff. Consumer Health Librarian responds to Library customer service inquiries and new patient appointments.
Essential Generic Job Functions (List in order of importance):
1. Start up and ongoing management of the new JTCC Library program.
2. Develops policies for the use of the JTCC Library.
3. Maintains policies, regulations and guidelines for use of library resources.
4. Develops a patient resource lists including but not limited to acceptable websites, current research protocols, and support services within JTCC for example Social Workers, Case Managers, Dietitians, etc.
5. Manages the JTCC Library operations and facility.
6. Provides assistance to patients, families and staff in answering inquiries, locating information and interpreting resource catalogs while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
7. Conducts manual and computerized information research to support requested inquiries.
8. Prepares and maintains library resources.
9. Catalogs resources in accordance with standards.
