Position Summary  New York University's Division of Libraries is seeking a Reference Associate to support the Research Commons, specifically related to Coles Science Center materials. The Reference Associate will be expected to: provide a variety of multidisciplinary reference and research services to library patrons in person and remotely; conduct library tours, basic information literacy classes and term paper clinics for students; assist library patrons with complex research, reference and collections inquiries and research strategies, primarily in the Sciences; supervise student assistants, assists with content development for online research guides; and participates in various special projects and initiatives. Please note, evening and weekend work may be required.   
Qualifications/Required Education  Bachelor's degree in science or related field.   
Preferred Education  Advanced degree in a science or related discipline requiring interaction with data sets.   
Required Experience  2 years xperience in bibliographic instruction or teaching or equivalent combination.   
Preferred Experience  2 years experience in a library setting, especially an academic public services unit. Familiarity with science research methods. Experience working with scientific data sets or equivalent.   
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  Excellent interpersonal, research, and oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and patrons. Knowledge of online research resources and databases. Familiarity with standard office software.   
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  Knowledge of statistical software packages.
