Job Title Special Collections Asst III
Position Summary
The Princeton University Library seeks an energetic individual to provide staffing assistance in the Library Privileges Office. Principal duties will include: screening visitors to the library to determine the level of privileges to which they are entitled; maintaining databases of library users; and responding to inquiries about library policies and services from both internal and external users. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for assigning library study spaces to eligible users; assisting with the management of library fine and fee billing processes; collecting and maintaining relevant statistics; performing circulation related functions; and opening and/or closing the office as needed. This individual will also provide assistance in other areas of the Circulation Services Division as needed.
Essential Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
In addition to an Associate's or other two-year college degree, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years customer service experience, preferably in a library or similar academic setting. He or she will have: a demonstrated knowledge of internet tools and e-mail; demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications; demonstrated attention to detail, especially while handling multiple projects simultaneously; and an ability to constructively work both collegially and independently. S/he will be familiar with Voyager or other integrated library systems; have a demonstrated ability to recognize, interpret, and resolve complex problems; and must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate may also have direct experience with the Voyager (or other integrated library system) Circulation module; experience supervising the work of others; and a working knowledge of at least one Western European language other than English.
This position is 50% time with hours as listed below:
Sunday: 1pm - 5pm
Monday: 12pm - 5pm
Tuesday: 1pm - 5pm
Friday: 12 - 5pm
Some overtime may be required at times.
Hours may vary during the summer and break periods.
The ability to be flexible with scheduling is essential to meet the needs of the unit.
