Summary:
Provides high quality reference service for both on-and off-site patrons and assists in coverage of the library reference desk. Coordinates Interlibrary Loan services.
Responsibilities:
• Provides timely responses to reference requests received in a variety of formats, including telephone, electronic and postal service requests.
• Shares coverage of Library Reference Desk with other Reference Services staff.
• Provides individual and group instruction.
• Coordinates Interlibrary Loan services.
• Develops and maintains knowledge of trends and technologies related to library reference services.
• Participates in curatorial liaison program.
• Participates in public services team meetings and initiatives.
Qualifications:
• ALA accredited master’s degree.
• Strong service orientation
• Coursework or demonstrated experience in reference and instruction.
• Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies related to library reference services Demonstrated experience in working well under pressure, meeting deadlines, and adapting to change.
• Ability to work with materials in languages other than English.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Ability to work in an environment of collaborative problem solving and decision making.
• Ability to share and communicate with diverse work styles.
• Ability to represent the Museum in a professional manner.
• Ability to work weekends/evenings as required.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
