Position Summary:
The Senior Manager, Business Intelligence position is responsible for:
· Build and own segmentation models for markets
· Provide strategic and tactical insights
· Identify market shifts and synthesize opportunities
· Delivering actionable analytical insights that provide a competitive edge to our business and drive revenue through identifying growth opportunities and minimizing risk
· Owning and managing market and competitive intelligence, primary and secondary research and knowledge management
· Developing segmentation expertise for the organization to drive growth in key accounts
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
· Identify market shifts and synthesize opportunities by tracking current and emerging trends for customers, suppliers, distributors, regulations, economic factors and competitors, including their entire supply chain
· Provide strategic and tactical insights based on macro trends (i.e. Forecasts, new products, pricing performance, intellectual property, customer dynamics, brand equity, etc.) affecting the medical device industry and incorporate this into segmentation models, business updates & marketing plans
· Build and own segmentation models for markets, applications, and customers to be used in strategic and business planning
· Track and analyze market size, market share and market penetration. Deliver actionable insights to marketing and sr. management
· Deliver competitor profile updates based upon researching analyst reports, analyzing earnings calls, and other data mining
· Lead the collection of field intelligence, maintain our competitor compendium, manage the research library, manage our business intelligence news gathering/dissemination, and own our proprietary tissue tracking records process
· Acquire and/or conduct primary and secondary research (quantitative and/or qualitative) related to markets, applications, and competitors
· Control budget for this research, recommend methodologies and manage proposals
· Partner with marketing and sales to develop insightful metrics that can assess effectiveness of such areas as marketing programs, performance vs. strategic plans, and promotional spend
· Develop a methodology for tracking leading indicators for emerging opportunities
· Partner with R&D to maintain an understanding for the science of existing and emerging technologies
· Lead annual list price development based upon competitive pricing research, economic landscape, contracting environment, etc.
Qualifications
Position Qualification Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelors Degree in Finance or related field
· At least 7 years experience managing Marketing (strategic/product) Research function
· Experience with Microsoft Office applications including: Word, Excel, & Outlook
Other Position Qualifications:
In addition to the basic qualifications listed above, the following other position qualifications are required:
· Experience in the Life Sciences industry
· Experience identifying market shifts
· Experience acquiring research
· Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
· Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills
· Ability to perform statistical analyses and translate into meaningful business information
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in all business dealings with co-workers
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the basic qualifications and other required qualifications listed above, the following preferred qualifications also exist:
· Masters Degree in Finance or related field
· Medical Device experience
· Experience with statistical software packages and solutions
