Director of Library and Records
Major law firm is seeking a Director of Library and Records, preferably located in one of the Firm’s East Coast offices. The Director of Library and Records will be responsible for the implementation, planning, management and evaluation of all library and records services. Duties include, coordinating all general and day-to-day functions of library and records at all Firm locations, primarily through department managers as well as developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures to ensure uniform compliance with all firm policies and developing and evaluating and implementing long and short term goals for the departments.
This position requires 10+ years of management experience in the areas of library and record in a law firm environment. Qualified candidates must understand the evolution of records management within the context of modern document management and matter management systems, technologies and policies as well as the evolution of library services within the context of sophisticated federated search capabilities. Successful candidates will have the ability and knowledge to engage information services and technologies to leverage both internal work product as well as outside electronic information sources. Experience with computerized filing system and a working knowledge of variety of legal and non-legal databases (e.g. Lexis, Westlaw, Dialog, Dun & Bradstreet) is also required. Bachelor’s Degree is required and Certified Records Management (CRM) certificate and Master’s Degree in Library Science, or Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) are preferred.
