Job Qualifications:
The Media Specialist under the general supervision of the University Libraries’ MEDIA Services and Digital Production Librarian, provides the technical support services required to maintain the Media Services operation in Paley Library, and is responsible for overseeing and providing a full range of customer services at the Media Services Desk. Performs installation, maintenance and upgrades for the library’s viewing, listening, and digital video editing equipment. Responsible for the ongoing inventory and upkeep of the unit’s multi-format media and device collection and all viewing and editing equipment as well as all devices for loan. Instructs and assists students, faculty, and staff in the use of the library’s digital video editing software, as well as its viewing and listening equipment. Responsible for the media services desk’s circulation and reserve activities, including training, scheduling, payroll, and supervision of student assistants. Responsible for the processing of media materials for course reserves, and managing requests for viewing-room bookings. Assists patrons with microform requests including assistance with microform readers. Responsible for direction and implementation of projects. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
AAS degree or IT Certification and at least one year experience with media services and media technology. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated ability to install, maintain and upgrade media technology.
*Demonstrated experience with digital video editing with the use of FinalCutPro.
*Excellent organizational and analytical skills, along with an attention to detail.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
*Ability to move and/or lift 20-25lbs of equipment.
Preferred:
*Bachelor's degree.
*Experience with customer services in a library or related setting.
*Experience with audio editing software such as ProTools.
