Job Description Supervise evening and weekend public service activities in the Library / Information Commons. Provide backup support for Help Desk as needed.
Description of Duties/Selection Criteria Coordinate public service activities, including Circulation/Reserve Desk, Information Desk, and the Help Desk. Maintain staff schedules and assign staff to other duties as required.
Perform public service functions and reference services as needed.
Oversee and assist with cataloging and classification activities.
Explain, interpret, and implement the policies and procedures of the Library, including the negotiation of user complaints and the decision to override system blocks on the user.
Report emergencies to appropriate college office.
Train staff in operations and systems routines.
Other related duties as assgined.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Experience using electronic information resources.
Two years of experience in library operations, including automated library management systems.
Knowledge of OCLC, Library of Congress classification, subject headings, AACR2 rev and MARC format.
Knowledge of integrated library systems (preferably Innovative Interfaces MILLENNIUM) and procedures.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to function independently.
Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations (i.e. overtime, expertise in, physical requirements, flexible in schedule, travel, preferred qualifications, etc) This position is expected to work afternoon, evening and weekend hours.
Special Instructions to Applicants Must be able to work a flexible schedule as the Library's hours are adjusted for semester breaks and summer terms.
Pay Rate $45,267
Pay Basis Annually
