The Diamond Law Library at Columbia University seeks a Head of Collection Maintenance to be responsible for the physical integrity and overall organization of over 800,000 volumes, as well as planning to maximize effective use of limited physical space.
The position will: Organize and administer all aspects of collection maintenance, working closely with Technical Services to maintain organization under three different classification systems; Directly supervise three FTE support staff and one FTE student staff; Plan and manage all space mgmt. projects; Participate in administrative routine of the Law Library including statistical reports, committee work, etc.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. Minimum 2-4 years of related experience. One year experience with library collection maintenance; knowledge of various classification schemes: LC, Schiller, Hicks; excellent personnel management skills; knowledge of integrated library systems; working knowledge of at least one foreign language.
Additional foreign languages; experience with Innovative Interfaces; one year management experience in a law library.
