Job Title: Library Financial Analyst
Department: Library - 690
Position Summary: The Library Financial Analyst is charged with assisting in overseeing the financial operations of the Library.
Principal duties include:
Reviewing and verifying all monthly financial statements to confirm transactions were posted as processed and resolve mistakes when identified. Preparing financial analysis reports. Assist with collection, oversight and reporting of annual statistics. Maintain existing, and create new spreadsheet, database and web applications as needed to improve financial administration efficiencies. Assist with year-end closing activities. Make recommendations to improve financial systems; perform in-house audits of operating units; analyze deficiencies and report to Director. Assist in formulating and refining short and long-term financial goals and budgeting. Assist with preparation of grant proposals and applications to include compilation of data and preparation of budget expenditures; monitor and verify expenditures; ensure compliance with University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures; prepare administrative reports.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise financial services staff and student workers.
Fiscal Responsibilities: Proxy for Director of Finance and Administration.
Essential Qualifications Position Requires:
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting or related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting, finance or fiscal management, preferable in higher education.
- Working knowledge of electronic spreadsheets and relational databases.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Position involves routine contacts with library staff at all levels, non-library departments as well as non-university organizaiton and individuals.
- Excellent skill using Excel and Access.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred:
Experience working with PeopleSoft.
