Thanks to the convergence of more computing capabilities, increased Internet bandwidth, availability of bigger databases and the capabilities of virtual worlds, workers today are challenged with new ways of presenting and working with large amounts of information to solve complex problems. In this session, the panel will address the capabilities of virtual worlds and the pieces that need to be put into place to imagine the future possibilities.

Many institutions are looking for ways to use virtual worlds for education, training, and collaboration. This session will provide attendees with techniques to create an effective virtual environment based on the principles of instructional design. The speaker will present her research approach and initial findings in this new modality of instruction.
