SLCC09 (Second Life Community Convention 2009 Education Track Propsoal Deadline is July 17.
The Convention will take place in San Francisco, August 13-15, 2009.
According to the SLCC page
Unlike in previous years, the Education Track will be formally structured into three themes occurring at specific times. Those being:
- Celebratory Membership: Tell us your story. What did you or your organization do well over the past 12-18 months. The focus is on best practices and how, with your help, the community at large has benefited. Maybe it was a teaching practice or student learning achievement, marketing, communications. Anything is fair game that showcases the best of what what your organization has done.
- Funtional Requirement: Tell us what you need. What would make your Second Life better over the next 12-18 months. The focus is on uncovering limitations and how, with the community’s involvement, the programs SL Educators offer could be taken up to the next level. Maybe it is the antithesis of best practices or maybe a research study that needs to be done. Anything is fair game that showcases where you envision education in Second Life going over the next 12-18 months
- Core Competency and Capability: Tell us what is out there. What tools, techniques, networks, opportunities are available, or soon to be available, that people should know about. The focus is on discovery of those support products, services, and practices which will raise the bar on Education in Second Life. Maybe its a new widget or support group, or something totally unique that your organization is hoping to make available. Anything is fair game that showcases supporting infrastructure available to the SL Community as a whole.
The overall objective of the SLCC Education Track is to develop a concept map which will be published at the end of the conference to those people in attendance. This concept map will serve as a roadmap for opportunities and challenges which will raise the bar on education in Second Life. It will help provide your organization with a ton of new ideas, support, and networking opportunities for the coming year.
