On Sunday, Feburary 13, Archivist Llewellyn, archivist and librarian for NASA's Space CoLab Library, introduced a group of about 15 avatars to her new project Cuirosity AI (Aritificial Intelligence). Curiosity AI is a tool designed to perform Information search and retrieval. Each avatar was issued a free NASA spacesuit before entering the passage to the Red Planet and meeting Cuirosity.

Curiosity Scientist:
Curiosity Scientist was originally designed to aid students and
researchers by performing library-type information search and
retrieval but can now do much more. Curiosity does web-based keyword
and natural language research using search engines, Wikipedia, and
performs federated searches in public, academic and government
databases. Curiosity uses AIML to converse in natural language and
has a sense of humor. Curiosity performs 133 animations, senses who is
around him, obeys directional movement commands, and can follow any
nearby avatar. Curiosity even has his own group. Participants
visiting the project receive a free space suit and are invited to send
their avatar names to Mars aboard the actual NASA Curiosity rover, the
same rover that James Cameron (director of the movie Avatar) is
collaborating with NASA to install a 3D camera. The Curiosity AI
project is currently entered in an international challenge issued by
the US Army and advertised by the White House and has passed the first
stage of a test in the use of artificial intelligence in virtual
worlds.
