Dear SLA-LMD,
At last year's SLA meeting, I met many of you and talked about the desire to become a leader in the profession. I discussed frustrations, concerns, and other issues that were tugging at me. I was able to take all kinds of advice from you and learned a great deal at the conference. I thank you all so much for your support!
I have had the pleasure and opportunity to serve as a College Librarian for the University Libraries at Virginia Tech since March 1, 2001. The experiences I have had there can be described as extraordinary and fulfilling. This honor has afforded me the ability to learn, share, and grow both as a professional and as a person.
I now have the knowledge and ability to move up in the profession of librarianship and therefore, have accepted a position as the new Library Director at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. I look forward to this new chapter in my life. I am absolutely thrilled! My last day at Virginia Tech is November 30, 2007 and I start at Clarkson on January 2, 2008. Wish me luck!
Sincerely,
Michelle
Michelle - This is fabulous news! Congratulations! I hope we'll still see you in Louisville in January to congratulate you in person and hear the whole story of how you came to make this great move. Best of luck!

Michelle, that is right up the road from me (okay... 2.5 hours). If you get to Syracuse for a meeting or whatever, give me a shout.
Congrats!
