SLA in Second Life

Have you read the most recent issue of Information Today?  Did you see the article about the new SLA presence in Second LIfe? 

Birds_eye_view_of_the_redesigned_sl Second Life is probably the best known of the dozens of virtual worlds that have sprung up in the past few years.  Beginning in 2006, libraries began to establish a strong presence in Second Life. Currently over 70 libraries and organizations have a presence in Second Life on a group of islands called the Info Island Archipelago.  SLA is one of the newest presence in SL (as Second Life is frequently called.)  Although SLA does not have its own island, it is located in Cybrary City.  The SLURL (Second Life URL) that would take you directly to the SLA presence is http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cybrary%20City%20II/59/100/22

In order to be able to get to SLA in Second LIfe, you need join Second LIfe, create an avatar, and download the Second Life software on to your PC.  https://secure-web4.secondlife.com/join/

Iimpromptu_class_on_how_to_build__2 The SLA Second Life Workgroup is responsible for creating SLA's presence in Second Life. Currently, volunteers are creating the In World Environment.  SLA owns 4,096 square meters in Cybrary City.  Last month, they began construction of the SLA building on the site.  In addition to the building, the site also includes a sand box, where avatars can practice designing and building objects.
