The MN Chapter of the Special Libraries Association invites you to attend:
Continuing Education Event – Alternative Search Tools: What’s Here and Where We are Headed with Instructor Randolph Hock
As all information professionals know, search does not equate to Google. There is an abundance of specialized search engines for specialized content. These can be used to search for images, videos, blogs, forums, podcasts, people, and a variety of user-generated content. Your results can be categorized, clustered, or displayed graphically. There are huge search opportunities on the Web – not just Web pages and not just Google. Find out about the alternatives that await you (often with exotic names such as Omgili, Cuil, Blinkx, Silobreaker, Zuula and Quintura). Also learn about the present and future of real time search. What’s real time search? MIT’s Technology Review recently named it one of the 10 Emerging Technologies of 2010.
We are very excited to give MN Chapter members this unique opportunity to learn from Dr. Hock without having to travel out of state. He is a frequent presenter, recently appearing at WebSearch University, Spring 2010 and Computers in Libraries 2010. We have space for 48, so please register early to secure your spot!
