October 25: eReaders and eBooks in Libraries

Heather Pehrson, the Electronic Resources Coordinator from St. Louis County Library, will be showcasing a variety of eReader devices as well as discussing trends and the popularity of eBooks in libraries.  She will provide instruction and demonstration on how to use free eBooks available through Overdrive.  We encourage you to bring your laptops, eReaders, iPads, etc. and your library card number and PIN.

*Parking: There is on street parking in Clayton and the building’s parking garage will also be available. The garage entrance is located on Central. From the garage, take the elevator to the first floor lobby. We are located off the lobby in Suite 100.

May 24: Social Media Vehicles and St. Louis SLA

The SLA St. Louis IT Chair, Steven Pryor, will be covering several new social media efforts that are launching for the St. Louis Chapter.  These vehicles will become increasingly important to how the chapter communicates in the future.  Steven will cover the new accounts for Twitter and LinkedIn as well as how we will be enhancing Facebook communication efforts going forward.  He will also provide instruction and demonstration on how to use these different social media vehicles for daily communication, conference following, etc. all in time before chapter members head off to the SLA Annual Conference in June.  We encourage you to bring your laptops, smartphones, etc. Please note that we will not be using Social Media to replace any existing communication methods that the St. Louis Chapter already uses but to enhance our communication with the chapter membership.
