Job Description - Reference and Circulation Librarian
Primary Responsibilities May Include:
In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the Librarian position, the following knowledge skills and abilities may also be required:
- Ability to teach a wide variety of online databases and library services in a group setting as well as one-on-one
- Strong commitment to public service and proven ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students and community members
- Dedication to keep abreast of new technologies and library services
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are essential
- Familiarity with SUNYConnect databases, ALEPH and ILLiad systems preferred
- Create research guides for library materials
- Track, compile, analyze, and interpret library collection usage statistics
- Participate in library planning and assessment
- Serve on campus-wide committees and task forces as needed
- Continue professional development to keep abreast of trends in academic libraries to support programs
Requirements:
- ALA-certified, MLS required
- Previous experience in reference services and bibliographic instruction or teaching experience in an academic setting
