A division member went the Welcome Area on Info Island, but wasn't quite sure she was in the correct spot. So the question is what does the Welcome Area on Info Island look like? Here are some photos to help you recognize it.
The Welcome Area is a round open area, with a shining crystal globe in the middle. There is a reference desk in one corner, a huge monthly calendar, billboards and posters about exhibits, and a Teleportation Station. The building in the background -- with the columns -- is the Second Life Library.
The map coordinates for the Welcome Area are 128, 128, 0.
Why is the Welcome Area important? First, there is good information here (just click on things!). Second, there are often people here who can help you find things and answer questions. Third, Info Island tours generally leave from this spot.
I'll be giving a tour of Info Island on Thursday, Feb. 15, from 11 - 12 noon Eastern Time (a.k.a. 8 - 9 a.m. Second Life Time). In world, my name is Jillianna Suisei. That's me in the screenshots.
Finally, a tidbit. There is nighttime in Second Life! These screenshots were taken at night. Nighttime, though, isn't when our night time, so you may actually be in Second Life during the day (your daytime) and find that it is nighttime there.
