In a recent article by ZDNet, Untangle has decided to go open source with most of its applications. Providing security and productivity solutions targeted towards small business, the company decided that a move to make their software open source would help elevate the start-up's profile among new customers. While one might wonder how the company can make any money when 12 of their applications can be downloaded for free, it should be pointed out that live support and advanced features are only included in the fee-based professional package.
