Hello to all those that are New Orleans bound!
Our IT Division will be sponsoring three Open Houses over the course of the Annual Conference from Sunday, June 13, through Tuesday, June 15. They will all be in the Sheraton Conference Hotel at 9:00 PM in the Armstrong Room on the 8th Floor. I'm going to write up a description of what we're doing during each Open House on this blog over the next couple of days.
The first Open House is Mystery Night which we couldn't put together without the great help of SLA's own Mystery Author, Jane Kelly! Jane has brought together many of the authors who contributed to the book of short mystery stories, New Orleans Noir. The authors are Julie Smith, Chris Wiltz, Ted O'Brien, Patty Friedman, James Nolan and Greg Herren and they will be available to sign copies of New Orleans Noir as well as other titles they've written individually.
There will be mystery puzzles and books galore. Be on the lookout for information about the authors that may, or may not, be included in the puzzles from the SLA IT twitter account, @slait. I was going to create a twitter hashtag just for Mystery Night puzzles, but I think that would make it too easy! You'll just have to keep tabs on the #slait hashtag and the general @slait ID.
I hope to see you all stop by and maybe grab a drink or two! I'll be there all night as my terrible punishment for agreeing to be program planner for the division. Doomed to party every night until at least midnight. The horror! The horror!
Interesting site, always a new topic .. good luck in the new 2011. Happy New Year!
