The next SLA NY chapter's happy hour is scheduled for July 29, Tuesday. We are honored to be host to both candidates for SLA President-Elect, Janice Anderson and Anne Caputo.
Voting will take place this fall and you have the chance to meet them
personally and hear what their goals are or ask questions. Read their
bios below for more information.
Copies of Liz Lynch's booklet of networking tips will be available
for purchase for $5 each (from the May 15 event). And the Midtown
Executive Club has recently finished some refurbishments to Rumford
Hall and the dining room so come check it out.

Janice C. Anderson

Janice
C. Anderson has more than 35 years experience in information
management. In 1985, driven by her desire to provide the highest
quality client service, Anderson founded Access Sciences Corporation,
originally known as Access Information Associates. Today, she serves as
CEO and Chair of the Board of Directors and continues to work hand in
hand with clients to manage their information resources.
Anderson is a member of the Special Libraries Association (SLA),
American Library Association (ALA), Association for Information and
Image Management (AIIM), Library and Information Technology Association
(LITA), and the Association of Records Managers and Administrators
(ARMA). Most recently, Anderson served as Chair Elect/Program Planner
and Chair of the Petroleum and Energy Resources Division. She has also
been active with the Houston Chapter of ARMA, serving on the Board as
Vice President of Outreach, Vice President of Communication, and Vice
President of Conference.

Anne Caputo

Anne Caputo is
Executive Director of Dow Jones' Learning & Information
Professional Programs where she is responsible for the planning and
development of learning initiatives for Dow Jones Content Technology
Solutions group. She is also responsible for strategic planning,
marketing and the creation of alliances with and for information
professionals. Prior to joining Dow Jones in 1998, she served in
various positions with The Dialog Corporation, most recently as
Director of Dialog's Quantum information professional program and the
Classroom Instruction Program.
Additionally, Anne is an adjunct faculty member at the University
of Maryland, College of Library and Information Services, where she
teaches Access to Information in Electronic Environments. She is also a
member of the distance education faculty for the University of
Tennessee, School of Information Sciences.
Anne has served SLA at the local level as a Director and later
President of the Washington, DC Chapter. She has also served at the
international level on SLA's Board of Directors as the 2006-2007
Chapter Cabinet Chair and as Secretary to the Board. She is currently
the Ethics Ambassador for the Washington, DC Chapter. In 2004 she was
named a recipient of SLA's Rose L. Vormelker Award for mentoring
students and practicing professionals and was named a Fellow of SLA at
the 2008 Annual Conference.
