The Daily Targum, a Rutgers University student newspaper, has written on the SCILS name change controversy. (The SCILS faculty on Feb. 4 voted to change the name to School of Communication and Information, dropping "Library Studies" from the name but not from the curriculum or focus of the school.)
The Targum article by Kaitlyn Calabro draws on interviews and a review of the SCILS_LISSA listserv comments from students and alumni.
In the article, SCILS Dean Jorge Reina Schement notes that the idea to simplify the name of SCILS has been "bouncing around for about 20 years."
