Centennial Showcase, Plus More Photos

Have you seen the SLA's Centennial Showcase? It was unveiled in January at the SLA Leadership Summit in Savannah, Ga. It'll be on display again at the SLA 2009 Annual Conference and INFO-EXPO.

From the SLA's page on the showcase: "This magnificent piece of art commemorates the first 100 years of SLA. From Bretton Woods, NH to Second Life and from quill pens to PDAs, our tools have changed and where we work has changed, but knowledge and networking have not. Experience SLA's past as you look to the future.

"The 3-dimensional Centennial Showcase celebrating the 100th Anniversary of SLA is designed as an open book. For state of the art knowledge in 2009, the centerpiece is the image of a computer monitor featuring the SLA website and a digital frame within the "monitor" for member photos."

Register Online for Peter Bromberg's Talk on 'The Value of Leadership' — Thursday, April 23 at Rutgers Conference Center, New Brunswick

You can now register online for Peter Bromberg's talk, The Value of Leadership, the Leadership of Value: Remaining Relevant in Times of Change. Payment link is at the bottom of this post.

Peter is NJSLA's 2009 Alice Rankin Distinguished Lecturer. The lecture will be held Thursday, April 23, with a social hour at 5:30, buffet-style dinner at 6:30, with Peter’s presentation to follow.

He is the Assistant Director for South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative (SJRLC), where he helps over 600 multi-type libraries deliver top-tier service by providing them with a varied slate of continuing education opportunities.  Peter encourages libraries to push the envelope by developing and promoting cutting-edge services such as QandANJ.org, the country's first 24/7 collaborative virtual reference service, and a "Books by Mail" service currently in pilot. Peter was dubbed "The Transformer" by Library Journal when they named him as a 2008 Mover and Shaker. Peter founded the popular team blog, Library Garden, where he blogs regularly with other New Jersey librarians.

Peter Bromberg on The Value of Leadership - Alice Rankin Distinguished Lecture - Thursday, April 23 (New Brunswick)

Save the date! On Thursday, April 23, NJSLA will welcome Peter Bromberg as our 2009 Alice Rankin Distinguished Lecturer, in a chapter signature event at the Rutgers University Inn & Conference Center in New Brunswick.

Peter will speak on "The Value of Leadership, the Leadership of Value."
