Bedminster Library Offering Weekly Job Search Forum Starting Tuesday, Sept. 15

The Clarence Dillon Public Library in Bedminster is offering ongoing weekly workshops designed to assist in job searching and career development. The sessions will be held Tuesdays from 6:45 to 8 p.m.

Career coach experts will advise on how to search and secure employment: for those displaced by the recession plus anyone interested in a new job or career. There is no fee and no limit on attendance. No need to enroll.

Connie Paul, Executive Director of the Central Jersey Regional Library Cooperative, shares the one lesson she learned from the best business and professional leaders she has heard in the past few years.

 

Venue:  Princeton Public Library, 65 Witherspoon St. Princeton, NJ  08542 (Parking is available in the Spring Street municipal lot located adjacent to the library. Drivers can enter the lot from Spring Street or through the library access driveway off Wiggins Street.)

Join the Lewis Librarians for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Lewis Science Library at Princeton University and a discussion of the issues involved in merging collections, services and staff, and moving into a stunning and somewhat controversial architectural space.

Campus map and directions and a parking map are online. Parking is available in all university lots after 5PM, but we suggest you park in lot 26. If you are heading north on Washington Road, make a right onto Ivy lane and then make a left into the lot (if you reach the stadium, you’ve gone too far). You should be able to see the Lewis Science Library from the lot. Prior to the tour, we will be networking and having dinner in the Brush Gallery in the basement of McDonnell Hall.

To reach McDonnell Hall, walk down Washington Road past the science library and then past Fine Hall (the very tall building next to it). You will see a staircase into the next building. Go down these steps and you be in the Brush Gallery. If you need help, please call Elana Broch at 609-575-6495.

Pres4Lib2009: A Camp for Library Speakers and Trainers — Friday, June 12 at Princeton Public Library

Looking to hone your presentation skills, become a better speaker, or develop your training/presenting toolkit? If so, you will not want to miss the inaugural Pres4Lib Camp on June 12, 2009 in Princeton, NJ. The camp, hosted by the bloggers of Library Garden and friends, is being sponsored by SJRLC, CJRLC and the Princeton Public Library. The camp is open to anyone who works in libraries or with libraries and librarians.

Snapshot: One Day in the Life of New Jersey Libraries - Feb. 19

Snapshot Day is only ten days away – February 19, 2009

What would New Jersey be like if there were no libraries?  What valuable services do we provide on a daily basis that simply go unrecognized and unappreciated?  The New Jersey State Library and the New Jersey Library Association need your help.  We're taking a snapshot of a typical day in the life of New Jersey’s libraries.

Here’s what you can do to be ready to help us show our impact.
 
Go to the Snapshot Day wiki:  

• Print out a copy of the survey to keep at your desk.
• Print out a copy of the photo release form
• Review the original announcement 

We need participation from ALL library types – academic, school, special, public, large, small, and in-between.  

The bigger our numbers, the greater our impact.
 
If your library will be closed on February 19, 2009, just pick an alternate date to make your count.
