The primary focus of this position will be to train library clients to become efficient and effective users of available information resources and tools in the service of clinical care. Duties may include participation in just-in-time instruction on rounds, morning report and conference series, departmental meetings and CMSRU curricular instruction.

The librarian in this position will design, deliver, promote, and evaluate Information Literacy and Evidence Based Practice (EBP) training and provide customized consultation services in person, by phone or electronically.

The librarian will also identify needs and develop programs that focus on the changing technology needs of the Library, faculty, staff and students. This includes responsibility to follow the development of new and emerging technologies in the field and analyze the potential of new technologies; identify and recommend new technologies and their application to the library that will significantly improve or transform the library's current services for information resource discovery and retrieval; and participate in departmental and library-wide technological planning and implementation activities.

The Information Services Librarian will perform literature searches and provide advanced research assistance to students and faculty, as well as hospital staff and administration, to support clinical care and research.

This position reports to the Assistant Director of the Library.

Qualifications:

Required:

• ALA-accredited Masters degree in Library Science with a minimum of three years of library and teaching experience in a health sciences or hospital library is required
• Knowledge of the concepts of Information Literacy, including an in-depth understanding of Evidence Based Practice (EBP)
• Experience in developing and presenting educational sessions
• Proficiency with health sciences databases, resources, and literature
• Knowledge of issues, trends, and best practices of expert searching in health sciences libraries
• Ability to effectively teach adults using a variety of educational technologies

3. Help create a vision for the Rowen library including layout and collection management systems.

4. Raising awareness for the plight of school libraries in Philadelphia through Library Build’s work

The Council will meet monthly, with pre-determined scheduled volunteer work days in the library.

Position Summary
Working in a team environment, the Curator of Human Rights performs curatorial work in support of Archives & Special Collections programs in the collecting area of Human Rights. Following established departmental procedures the curator acquires and processes archival collections and works closely with donors and potential donors. S/he works in close cooperation with other Curators, the Team Leader and subject Librarians to plan and establish area goals and to ensure that established collection and public service goals are met. Position Summary:
The Villanova Digital Library, part of Villanova University’s Falvey Memorial Library, located in Villanova PA, has available a dynamic and innovative internship position for the Summer 2012 academic semester. The primary mission of Villanova’s Digital Library is accomplished through the ongoing development, maintenance, and preservation of digital collections and online digital library resources. These include materials such as medieval manuscripts, letters, typescripts, books, photographs, maps, sheet music, posters and broadsides, newspapers. This position is from May 14 through August 6, 2012 depending on start date.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will work a 15 hour work week, with flexible work scheduling; beginning and ending dates are also flexible. During the course of the internship, an intern will follow a project through the development life cycle and will acquire and enhance digital project management skills. Activities may include image preparation and quality control, metadata creation (possibly including text encoding), transcription, scanning, web site development, student supervision, computer programming, and interface evaluation. In addition, the intern will have the opportunity to assist in digital preservation activities.
Participates in the development of metadata by following project-specific guidelines and procedures and by adhering to established national and local standards. Maintains quality control and project goals by reviewing work, site proofing, monitoring of OCR, SGML and XML output, and record editing and updating as necessary.
Assists in development of supplemental contextual materials for a designated project. Maintains statistical records of production by monitoring the material flowing through the unit and resolving work-flow problems. Maintains flexibility and awareness of changes in department by assuming other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Enhances database quality and searchability by collaborating with staff on database design issues.

Reporting to the Director of The East Asian Library, this Librarian works closely with faculty, students, staff and visiting scholars in the East Asian Studies Department and Program, as well as faculty and students from many other departments and interdisciplinary programs on campus. Responsibilities:
The Japanese Studies Librarian is responsible for selecting and acquiring library materials covering a wide range of subjects, particularly social sciences and humanities, in all formats and from all parts of the world, in Japanese and, in conjunction with the East Asian Studies Bibliographer, in western languages, to support teaching and research needs at Princeton. The position manages a sizable library acquisitions budget for these materials and collaborates with librarians in other subject areas to shape library collections. This librarian is the primary resource person in the Library to assist faculty and students with the discovery of materials and information in this interdisciplinary field.

The Japanese Studies Librarian is also responsible for managing existing collections, including retrospective acquisitions; selection of materials for offsite storage; advising on preservation and digitization; providing specialized research assistance (including reference, research consultation, bibliographic instruction and assistance with Interlibrary Loan) for East Asian Studies faculty, students, and visiting scholars. The librarian provides instruction in the use of print and electronic materials; creates resource guides, finding aids and websites to assist students and researchers and to provide customized access to the collections; and serves as the Library's liaison to the East Asian Studies Department and Program and others working in Japanese Studies. The Librarian is also responsible for cataloging Japanese language materials as needed, and consults closely with members of the Technical Services Department to facilitate timely acquisitions and processing of materials from and about Japan.

Web Developer - PA

The Free Library of Philadelphia is seeking a full time,

temporary Web Developer to program, test, and document web applications for the Library's public website and intranet.

Job Description and Requirements

The person in this position will create and maintain static
web pages, dynamic programmed applications, templates, and stylesheets, and
will also perform database modeling, analysis, and design for web-enabled
database applications. The ability to work closely with internal staff to
gather and organize requirements, manage and resolve problems, develop
prototypes, test and debug, and perform systems analysis is a significant
aspect of the position. The person in this position will work as part of
a team with a web editor, graphic designer, and other developers to plan and
develop new applications for the Library website.

Candidates should be facile with the application and techniques of programming in a variety of web-based languages; experience with
ColdFusion or similar tag-based server scripting languages is preferred. PHP
skills are also an advantage. Candidates
should have knowledge of project management for software and hardware
development and maintenance; documentation procedures (including formal
testing, quality control, and certification); site technical design and graphics
as they interface with application functionality, website content management;
and general networking concepts. An interest in new software packages,
including proprietary, open source, and commercial languages is also
desirable. As is the ability to manage multiple projects and relationships with internal and external customers; complete work within the confines of a time schedule; and present ideas clearly both orally and in writing.

Candidates with a degree in library and information science
and/or experience working in a library setting are particularly encouraged to
apply. The ability to learn digital image collection management
(specification process, oversight, database design and management, data input
and interface design and maintenance, and the software associated with these
tasks) and achieve familiarity with library cataloging practices and
conventions will increase job satisfaction.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer technology, information
technology, information science or a related area, and two years of experience
performing web applications programming to develop, design, program, test, and document web applications in the creation and maintenance of web features and internet sites.

University Librarian

DEPARTMENT: University Libraries
The University Librarian leads the Libraries in their mission to meet the needs of a preeminent metropolitan research university, articulates a strategic vision, and serves as an advocate for the Libraries within the university and larger community. The University Librarian is the chief administrator for the University Libraries, which include the Walsh Family Library, Quinn Library, and the Library at the Westchester Campus, and collaborates with the Law Library as appropriate. The University Librarian supervises a staff of 85 and reports directly to the Provost
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitates the continuing transformation of the University Libraries into a knowledge commons that integrates diverse resources, seeks new opportunities, collaborates with university units, and sustains a vibrant research, teaching, and learning community
Establishes and promotes a shared vision and strategic plan for library programs that address the needs of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community
Develops strong relationships with the President, the Provost, the Chief Information Officer, the Deans of the Universityís Schools, other University administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni
Works with library and department heads, as well as external sources, to identify, evaluate, and implement programs that improve services and facilities, enhance the quality of resources, and increase operational efficiency within the libraries
Manages the Libraryís financial planning process and budget
Recruits, retains, and leads a high-quality staff, delegating authority for specific tasks and creating an environment which supports professional development, continuing education, and advancement
Enforces policies and regulations adopted by the Board of Trustees, the offices of the President and University Provost, and the Faculty Senate
Represents the University and the University Library in external academic organizations and consortia, such as AJCU, ALA, METRO and WALDO
Cultivates external relations and fundraising opportunities with public and private sectors in support of the University Librariesí programs in coordination with the Universityís development initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit education
MLS from an ALA-accredited institution and preferably a second graduate degree
Minimum of seven to ten yearsí experience in academic or research library management, preferably in a multi-campus system
A record of scholarly achievement and publication
Proven track record of managing digital initiatives, close collaboration with information and instructional technology, delivery of services to remote users, media functions, and broad understanding of the current trends in information science, issues in academic libraries, and higher education generally
Strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills
A record of increasing responsibility in supervisory and administrative roles
Experience fostering a collaborative and innovative working environment that encourages collegiality, teamwork, and relationship building across the University community
Successful grant writing and/or fund raising experience
Experience in planning, implementing, and maintaining an institutional repository
A strong background in delivering library services to a wide range of patrons with diverse needs
A strong commitment to integrating library services with the Universityís curricular, academic support, information literacy, and research initiatives
