The Ethel Walker School seeks a librarian to oversee the entire operation of the Bell Library. Built in 1987 and renovated in 2011, The Bell Library is a modern facility that provides our community with high quality research materials, opportunities for student engagement and collaborative work. With a highly supportive IT staff and a faculty engaged in 21st century learning, this is an attractive position to any librarian who wishes to usher a well equipped but more traditional facility into the digital age.
We seek a Librarian who is adept at the most recent trends in educational software and online research tools, who is able to balance the tension inherent in such a significant transition in how the Bell Library will handle print/digital materials and will be a supportive colleague to all faculty, staff and administrators as we navigate the future together. The Librarian will provide support to our IT office, specifically the Academic Technologist. Complete job duties will include (but may not be limited to):
- Oversee the of the daily operation of the library including coordinating of space and time for faculty and students who will use the library throughout the day and week.
- In collaboration with the Dean of Upper and Middle Schools and the IT Department, oversight of the budget of the library and the Bell Library Fund including purchases of information technology and software for library use.
- Work to provide relevant resources to departments, faculty and students as needed.
- Proactively develop programs and education of community members about the resources available in the Bell Library.
- Maintain interesting displays and oversee any aesthetic improvements in the Bell Library. Work collaboratively with our Arts Department to coordinate art gallery receptions and exhibits.
- Working in collaboration with our Website Manager, develop and consistently update an online resource that provides not only online resources to all students and faculty but also a guide to the use of library resources.
- In collaboration with our Director of Marketing and Communication, create and update social media connected to the Bell Library.
