Science Media seeks an innovative manager, responsible for creating,
implementing, expanding and maintaining the web site and digital
properties. The successful candidate needs to have proven experience
and skills in web content management, graphic design and site
management.
This senior position will be part of a growing team of award-winning producers, creating cutting-edge science programming throughout the year for the WSF web sites, television, internet series, and educational platforms.
This position will report to the Managing Editor, Digital and work closely with producers creating text, photo, video and graphics content. High communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
She/He will be working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment and will need to be highly organized, detail driven and be able to work on several projects at once.
Responsibilities:
-Plan, manage and implement the development and design of landing pages, micro-sites and various social platforms including Facebook, Twitter.
-Assist Video Operations with day-to-day online publishing, metadata/database entry, trouble-shooting and media management.
-Optimize on-site content (including photography & video) and enhance the user experience to result in maximum visibility and top rankings in major search engines may include HTML, site structure, page layout and/or navigation techniques.
Requirements:
-Solid understanding of HTML, Photoshop and mobile apps. Working knowledge of Ruby on Rails preferred.
-Experience with Web publishing tools and strong understanding of SEO.
-Experience with various Content Management Systems.
-Well organized with a strong attention to detail, flexible and adaptable to changes.
-Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced media environment.
