Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities |
Under the direction of the Director of Libraries: 1. Prepares the annual budget for monographs, serials, databases and audio/visual materials. Monitors the expenditure of funds, maintain records, and recommends budget adjustments. 2. Manages the placement of orders and/or subscriptions for databases, monographs, serials, media materials, and all other library resources with appropriate vendors. 3. Coordinates the licensing of electronic journals, e-book packages, databases and other resources as needed. 4. Manages acquisitions applications in the library management system Sirsi Dynix. 5. Coordinates acquisitions financial processes using DataTel Colleague. 6. Manages Perkins Grant spending. Prepares budget with Library Director. 7. Provides reference to users on a scheduled basis. 8. Works with faculty to provide library instruction to groups and classes. 9. Works in cooperation with Librarians and Library Administration to develop bibliographic 10. Promotes and implements mediated instruction, interactive media 11. Participates in collection development activities. 12. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with students, library staff, and faculty. 13. Demonstrates a commitment of student learning outcomes and student success outcomes. 14. Prepares monthly and annual reports on campus library activities and services. 15. Develops plans and operational policies for the campus library with the Library Director. 16. Provides reference assistance at the Elizabeth/Plainfield Library when required. 17. Works on college-wide library projects as assigned. 18. Assists in preparation of user guides, library newsletter, and other library wide 19. Performs all other duties as assigned by Director of Libraries. |
Education Requirements |
MLS degree required. |
Competencies and Skills Required |
1. Knowledge of Sirsi/Dynix ILS. 2. Commitment to a culturally diverse perspective. 3. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 4. Knowledge of computer applications in library and office environment. 5. Experience with Windows applications. |
Physical Demands and Work Environment |
• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled. • Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. • No or very limited exposure to physical risk. • Some travel required. |
Terms of Employment |
Full time. Assignment may require any campus and/or building location as necessary for the course being taught with one scheduled night per week. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies. |
