The School for Management and Labor Relations Library is looking for an MLIS student to fill a part-time Library Assistant position. You will get experience with reference, circulation, and interlibrary loan, as well as opportunities to work on departmental research projects, subject guides for classes, and archives projects.
We need a student who can work the following hours: Monday and Thursday, 3pm to 8pm (a starting time of 4pm is possible)
SMLR is an academic special collection that serves both the School for Management and Labor Relations and the State of New Jersey. The library is different from other Rutgers libraries in that it was established in 1947 by the Governor of New Jersey and therefore serves the public as much as it does the research community. The collection includes periodicals, monographs and government documents, and the patrons are diverse and engaging.
The position will start at the beginning of the Spring semester and will continue for the academic year. We usually can continue the position during the summer (during the day, no evening hours) and into the Fall Semester if you are still a matriculating student.
We are located in the Labor Education Center, which is part of the Cook Campus and accessible by campus bus. Parking is available.
The position requires someone who is interested in learning about all aspects of librarianship, who is dedicated, responsible and hard-working, and who can work the specified hours. An interest in management and labor relations, social sciences, or business librarianship is a plus. The position pays $15/hour. (This is a part-time temporary positions and is dependent on continued funding.)
E-mail application letter and resume to Donna Schulman, Director, Carey Library, School of Management and Labor Relations, [email protected].
