Description:
Rowan University invites applications for the position of Associate Provost for Library Information Services. We are seeking an innovative, forward-looking, dynamic individual who will lead the support of library services across five campuses of Rowan University in Glassboro, Camden and Stratford including two medical schools – the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and the Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine. The Associate Provost will also lead the transformation of library resources from a predominantly print-based platform to a predominantly electronic system that supports multiple technology platforms. The Associate Provost will also adopt best practices in managing and expanding the collection of the second comprehensive public research university in New Jersey and engage the library in the life of the university and the community. Responsibilities
Reporting to the University Provost, the Associate Provost for Library Information Services will have management-level responsibility for all the libraries in the Rowan University system and will be based in the Keith and Shirley Campbell Library on the main campus in Glassboro. The Associate Provost will be a member of the Academic Affairs Council and will engage with the Deans from all the colleges and schools in the University to support the curriculum and foster the university's mission. The Associate Provost is responsible for developing strategic plans, program growth, budget and personnel management, outcomes assessment, outreach into the community and participating in regional, state and national library organizations.
Required Qualifications
· Academic credentials appropriate to the leadership of a large, modern, academic library system; an earned doctorate in library or information sciences is preferred; a second master's degree will also be considered.
· A minimum of 7 year's experience and knowledge in library collections (including libraries that support colleges of medicine), services, and operations; current and emerging information technologies; fiscal and strategic planning and management; and human resources management.
· Minimum of 5 years successful academic library administrative experience or equivalent leadership experience.
· Evidence of commitment to supporting a diverse workplace and community.
· Demonstrated commitment to collaborative governance and participatory decision-making.
· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
· Experience as a practicing librarian.
Desired Qualifications
· Evidence of continued scholarly growth.
· Experience with accreditation of academic programs.
· Membership in appropriate professional organizations.
· Experience in assessment and evaluation of academic library services.
· Experience in successful fundraising.
Starting Date: July 1, 2013
Salary: Commensurate with experience
