Job Description:
The Summer Internship Program that has been developed will assign students to one of our senior staff. All students will work on business projects suitable for a resume summary.
ARF Summer Interns are given a unique opportunity to work very closely with senior staff; something that is not possible in many organizations. Interns are really able to hone their project management and organizational skills through a wide variety of tasks.
The ARF is host to many events and interns are often able to attend meetings and events. Our events are packed with industry leaders, thus creating an excellent networking opportunity for our interns.
ARF staff will provide overviews of their areas and explain the role and context of student assignments. Questions and discussion will be encouraged. Lunchtime presentations will be held to introduce students to different business experiences among ARF staff.
The Summer Internship Program will be a 12 week program, starting on May 27th and concluding on August 16th. Spring Interns will be asked to work 20 hours/week and will be compensated at an hourly rate.

The ARF Knowledge Center provides a variety of research services to help our members make better business decisions. Our mission is to organize ARF and industry knowledge and make it accessible and available to members 24x7. The Knowledge Center also provides assistance as needed to other departments in Membership, Marketing, Events, and Research.
This internship would be ideal for students pursuing a graduate level library science degree from an ALA accredited academic institution and who are interested in gaining real-life work experience in Special Libraries.
NOTES: Additional Salary Information: Paid at an hourly rate.
Requirements:
Under the supervision of a MLIS Librarian, perform a wide variety of library science-related duties to gain exposure to, and experience working in a Special Library:
• Provide professional reference services to members and staff. • Assist in implementing a digitization project of ARF historical documents. • Assist in maintaining and updating in-house databases, archives and catalogs. • Individual projects will be assigned to enhance learning.
Primary Skills:
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university - AND - current enrollment in a Master's of Library Science program accredited by American Library Association.
• Experience in database and online researching.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Proficiency in using computer, internet, and other electronic resources.
• Familiarity with the advertising, marketing, and/or research industries desirable.
