The San Diego Chapter of the Special Libraries Association is seeking speakers for our annual professional development seminar to be held Friday, October 14, 2011, at Marina Village, Quivira Way, San Diego, CA 92109.
The 2011 theme is:
The Future-Ready Information Professional: Adding Value through Agility, Innovation, and Collaboration
We are looking for presentations that focus on sharing knowledge and insights regarding the tools, skills, competencies, and characteristics that help us prepare for the future as information professionals, and especially in ways that contribute to organizational success. Presentations should cover the topic both conceptually and with demonstrations/discussion of real-world applications. Proposals may address, but are not limited to, the following topics as specifically focused on future-ready practices/concepts:
- Building internal and external collaborations
- Knowledge management
- Competitive intelligence
- Information technology tools and services
- Library return on investment
- Licensing and copyright
- Mobile technology
- Patent searching
- Scientific/medical information gathering
- Strategic planning
Proposals are requested from information professionals working in all types of environments; SLA membership is not required. Proposals should include:
- Speaker(s) name, affiliation, contact information
- A title for your presentation
- A summary of your presentation of up to 500 words
Presentations should be approximately 45 minutes in length. Please submit your proposal to us at [email protected] by August 15, 2011. The seminar committee will select presentations by August 22.
Many of you have expertise in one or more of the areas listed above, or know someone who does, and we encourage you to send us a proposal soon. If you have colleagues or others in your network who might be interested, please do let them know about this opportunity. All proposals welcomed!
